Dorothy Thorpe was a Los Angeles-based glass artist, practicing primarily from the 1930s to the 1950s. She began her career by purchasing glassware from other companies and etching them with her own designs.
Recently, there has been a resurgence of interest in her work due to the TV show Mad Men. In the show, the main character is often seen sipping his scotch from her iconic silver-banded glassware. Along with her bent Lucite candleholders, the silver-banded glassware became one of her signature pieces. We at CIRCLE love the simple elegance of these glasses…and also don’t mind watching Don Draper sip from them.
